What is mart smooth?

Martian “Mart” Smooth is a cheeky character originating from something my dad used to say when someone did something really dumb: “Smart move!” I liked how the spoonerism of that—Mart Smooth—sounded. “Smart move, Mart Smooth!” sounded like a good title for something. As I imagined who this character could be, I started to realize I was that character. I’m from another planet, after all, so “Martian”—or Mart, for short—just made sense. It also works as a pen name, helping me keep a little distance between my personal art and the curious Googling of my elementary school students. I love making personal work that can be a little naughty sometimes —so, kids, look away now!
